Virtual Leader Training - Home & Farm Safety
(Leaders Only)
Start time: 7:00 pm (2 hours)
This session will highlight the importance of safety in 4-H programming. Leaders will learn how to describe the 4-H Farm and Home Safety Program and teach associated skills. By the end of this session, you will be able to:
Explain how safety awareness and education are integrated across all levels of 4-H
Access 4-H BC safety initiatives and related resources
Understand the 4-H Safety Awards Program
Use new safety activities in your 4-H club

In this session, leaders will learn about the 4-H communications program including requirements for public speaking, demonstrations, speak and shows, educational displays, and the new digital posters. By the end of this session, you will:
Be familiar with tools and activities you can use to help 4-H members develop confidence in their communications skills
Know how communications activities are assessed in the 4-H program, including what communications awards members can earn
Have lots of inspiration for ways to kick off 4-H communications activities in the new 4-H year

Understand the role of the 4-H Project Leader
Learn how to teach and evaluate 4-H record keeping skills
Plan an effective project meeting
Teach 4-H project skills using a variety of exercises

Virtual Leader Training - Judging
(Leaders Only)
Start Time: 7:00pm (2 hours)
In this session, 4-H leaders will learn the tools and strategies needed to lead a successful 4-H judging program. We’ll cover how to effectively teach and assess judging skills, along with practical tips for organizing a club-level competition. By the end of this session, you will be able to:
Access and use available 4-H judging program resources
Teach key judging skills: using correct terminology, making positive comparisons, assigning placings, and giving written and oral reasons
Understand and apply the Hormel system for evaluation, including the use of splits
Score written and oral reasons accurately
Plan and run a 4-H club judging competition

Virtual Leader Training - Proudly Present Agriculture
(Leaders and Senior Members)
Start Time: 7:00 pm (2 hours)
This workshop is a great opportunity for anyone involved in agriculture to build skills and confidence for communicating with the public. It will help leaders and senior 4-H members learn the basics of presenting facts about agriculture in a positive and progressive way. Topics will include:
Introduction to the animal welfare spectrum
Digging deeper into hot topics in agriculture
Pro-actively sharing the agriculture story
Consideration of how to react if we are approached by an animal activist.

Food for Thought Delegate Application Period
The Food For Thought program gives 4-H British Columbia members ages 14-15 the opportunity to discover BC agriculture.
Program participants will taste and experience BC products and become more aware of the BC agriculture industry through exploring issues related to limited land and water resources, sustainable development and the rural urban interface.
Food For Thought is offered in even years (2016, 2018, etc) alternating with Youth Action.
Application Period: April 20 - May 4, 2026
Program Dates: July 19 - 24, 2026

This interactive session will provide leaders with ideas and resources to help them plan the 4-H club year. It will also introduce some concepts and resources 4-H leaders can use when teaching meeting skills to youth and will provide some suggestions about managing challenging behaviors in meetings.
4-H Awards Program
This session will cover all things 4-H awards including junior badges, senior skills certificates, junior proficiency exams, and achievement. We will also cover the grade 11/12 credits program, including how to earn 4-H credits and the steps needed to get the credits on to school transcripts. This session is designed to make sure leaders know how to support their members in accessing as many opportunities as possible and getting the most out of 4-H.
