
Leader Training
4-H BC offers a variety of leader training courses for volunteers For a complete listing of the 4-H BC leader training courses available, please email Tanner Marshall.
There are three mandatory training sessions that new 4-H leaders must complete. New leaders are required to take these sessions before registering as a leader. Approval of registration will not occur until all three sessions have been completed.
Orientation Training for New Leaders

In this session, leaders will learn about the history, objectives, structure, programs and projects of the 4-H program in BC. The session will provide an overview of opportunities and resources that can help 4-H leaders support their members in making the most of the 4-H experience.
This training is now offered as an online, self-paced course and will no longer be delivered as live virtual training. The online training is hosted on a platform called Easygenerator and can be accessed here
If this is your first time completing a course in Easygenerator, you may need to create an account prior to starting the course. If you have previously used Easygenerator, you should be able to log in using the same email and password.

This session will cover the Youth Safety Policies from 4-H Canada including the rule of two, supervision ratios, transportation policies, incident reporting, and activity planning. Leaders will consider a series of case studies to think about how to apply the 4-H Youth Safety Policies in their clubs.

Please note: Those who have previously completed the 4-H Administration course are not required to enroll in this course.

The Commit to Kids program helps child-serving organizations reduce the risk of sexual abuse and create safer environments for children in their care. This online course is entirely self-paced, so you are able to take it at any time. Follow the link here to access the Centre for Child Protection Website and the Commit to Kids training.. Leaders who have already created an account through 4-H LEARNS and need to initiate or finish their Commit to Kids training can follow the log-in instructions.
Leaders who have previously taken the following similar training programs do not need to complete Commit to Kids.
Put the Child First (previously offered by 4-H BC)
If you have completed Respect in Sport or Respect in Schools, please send a copy of your completion certificate to Tanner Marshall so that credit can be provided on your leader training record.
Refresher Training for Returning Leaders

The Youth Safety Refresher Course is intended to be a review of the Commit to Kids and 4-H Youth Safety Training completed at the beginning of your time as a 4-H trained leader.
Every three years, when your Criminal Record Check (CRC) is up for renewal, leaders are required to complete this refresher course. The online course will take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete and is entirely self-paced, so you are able to take it at any time.
When you are due to complete the refresher course you will receive an email notification from the 4-H BC office with a link to access the program, which is hosted on a platform called Easygenerator You will be prompted to create your own profile in Easygenerator and then you may begin the course. New leaders are not required to complete this training and must first complete their mandatory training courses; Introduction to 4-H, 4-H Youth Safety Training, and Commit to Kids
